16. Mai 2022: Justice for Kosovo Roma. Veranstaltung in Brüssel

Wir laden euch herzlich ein, an der Veranstaltung der Kosovo Roma Rights Coalition (KRRC) Justice for Kosovo Roma während der EU-Roma Week teilzunehmen. Sie findet von 16:00-17:30 Uhr im Gebäude des Europaparlaments, Rue Wiertz 60, 1047 Bruxelles, statt. Für diejenigen, die nicht nach Brüssel kommen können, wird sie digital gestreamt.

Seit Jahrhunderten leben Roma in Europa und sind teil der europäischen Gesellschaften. Immer wieder erleben sie Ausschluss, Diskriminierung und Rassismus. Historisch wie gegenwärtig. Der Zweite Weltkrieg war die bisher schlimmste Verfolgung gegen Roma. Jedoch leiden sie auch heute noch unter Unterdrückung und Diskriminierung.

Seit dem Krieg in Jugoslawien 1999 sind mehr als 100.000 Roma aus dem Kosovo überwiegend nach Westeuropa geflohen. Heutzutage leben sie in Deutschland, Frankreich, Belgien, Kanada und vielen weiteren Ländern. Auch dort erleben sie vielfältige Ausschlüsse. Manche leben bis heute ohne sicheren Aufenthalt und sind seit mehr als 20 Jahren nur geduldet. Nach so vielen Jahren werden sie immer noch in Länder wie Serbien, Kosovo und Mazedonien abgeschoben.

In der Veranstaltung Justice for Kosovo Roma wollen wir über die Roma in der Diaspora mit euch in Gespräch kommen. Wie können wir Sicherheit und Zukunftsperspektiven für die geflüchteten Roma und ihre Kinder schaffen?

16 May 2022: Event Justice for Kosovo Roma in Brussels

We welcome you to participate in the event of the Kosovo Roma Rights Coalition (KRRC) Justice for Kosovo Roma during the EU Roma Week. It will take place from 16:00-17:30 in the European Parliament building, Rue Wiertz 60, 1047 Bruxelles. It will be digitally streamed for those who cannot come to Brussels.

Roma have lived in Europe for centuries and are part of European societies. Again and again they experience exclusion, discrimination and racism. Historically as well as at present. During the Second World War the worst persecution against Roma took place so far. However, they still suffer from oppression and discrimination today.

Since the war in Yugoslavia in 1999, more than 100,000 Roma have fled Kosovo, mostly to Western Europe. Today, they live in Germany, France, Belgium, Canada and many other countries. Even there, they experience multiple exclusions. Some are still living without secure residence status and have only been tolerated for more than 20 years. After so many years, they are still being deported to countries like Serbia, Kosovo and Macedonia.

In the event Justice for Kosovo Roma we will to talk about the Roma in the diaspora. How can we create security and future perspectives for the Roma refugees and their children?
